Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach wall. Discomfort in the upper abdomen, nausea, and vomiting are the most common symptoms. Gastritis can cause bleeding that appears on vomit or create black colored stools. However, most of gastritis was mild and not dangerous. Gastritis can occur when stomach acid damaging your walls. Too many cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs such as aspirin can also cause gastritis.

Self care

• Avoid smoking, alcohol, food and beverages that irritate the stomach.
• Try these medicines counter antacids or medicines such as Pepcid, Tagamet, and Zantac. (Be careful! Use of antacids that contain magnesium can cause diarrhea excessive. The basic ingredient antacids with calcium or aluminum can cause constipation).
• Use the pain medication that contains acetaminophen. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen and sodium naproksen. These medications can aggravate gastritis.

If your discomfort lasts longer than one week, should go to the doctor.
